I’ve been training for the Los Angeles Marathon for a couple of months now! I am beyond excited but also scared. Running this marathon has been on my bucket list for the last couple of years. In 2016, I ran a 10k followed by a half-marathon. I never thought I would sign up for a full Marathon! It takes a toll on your mind and body, however, I am up for the challenge!
The training is intense and it requires commitment and crazy discipline. I love pushing myself and consequently I decided to sign up! My friends and family think I have lost my mind but I love the feeling of accomplishment I get after I am done with a run or race. I am about 2 months in and the tougher, longer runs are ahead of me.
My goal is to remain injury free before getting to the starting line and post-race. Running is a mental challenge and physical one, one of the most important things I’ve learned thus far is to listen to my body. I had a rocky first half of training due to school finals and an unexpected flu. Nevertheless, I continued; a marathon will test your mind and determination. Also, time management, commitment, discipline, etc.
When giving up I love repeating the mantra: “The way you do ANYTHING is the way you do EVERYTHING.”
I don’t think of myself as a person who quits when a tough situation arises, or when life gets in the way. I remind myself that consistency is key to achieving greatness….
I am thankful to take on this challenge and make the most it. There are days when I rather stay home under the blankets with my cats and watch Netflix, but staying on schedule is about fulfilling a commitment, even when I don’t feel like it. March 19 seems far away, but getting my miles in now and good nutrition will prepare me for the 26.2 miles!!!!
I will be blogging about my process, I am learning so much! If you have any questions about my training comment, also, if you are a runner, send me your top tips!!
Running away now…… 😉
